My Story

My wife, Annette, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2000. MS attacks the central nervous system, and there are four different sub types, varying in degree of seriousness. Although a cure is yet to be found, it is predominantly discovered in females aged from 20-50.

My wife, Annette, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2000. MS attacks the central nervous system, and there are four different sub types, varying in degree of seriousness. Although a cure is yet to be found, it is predominantly discovered in females aged from 20-50.

Annette fought to maintain a ‘normal’ life for 10 years but now MS has taken its toll. She has had chemotherapy treatment and steroid treatment, without which she would be worse off. She’d probably be in a home and 61 years old is too young to be in a home; especially when your brain is still alert.

It’s too late for Annette but through completing My Personal Challenge for MS, and with your help, I hope to raise $10,000 for MS sufferers and their families to bring them a little bit of relief for Christmas.

On 8 December 2013, I’ll embark on the run of my life (and for the lives of others). I will run from Eden, on the south coast of New South Wales to Bombala, my home town. It’s around 85 kilometres in bush terrain and mostly up hill.

I understand money can be a bit tight leading up to Christmas but I ask you to look at your loved ones and be truly grateful for all you have. Think of the little things taken for granted: running; walking; playing with your children and grandchildren; and even putting your own shoes on. These are daily challenges faced by MS sufferers.
